Transition

CGA provides as much support as possible before a new student starts in Year 7 to help them feel more confident, less anxious and better equipped to cope with the changes associated with moving to secondary school:

  • at a meeting with the student and their family a Home/School Agreement is signed and the family receive a New Families Handbook which gives detailed information about us.

  • New students can use our Taster Day and Transition resources online, as well as experience a Taster Day before they start in September. These activities develop teamwork and leadership, as well as provide opportunities for developing social skills.

  • New students and their parents are welcomed to CGA at New Families Evening - an opportunity for students and their families to find out more, meet form tutors, senior staff and learning mentors and become more familiar with our procedures.
